CLUB HISTORYNorth Toronto Ski Club has been a travelling ski club since the early 1960s. Over the years, countless individuals have contributed to the club's activities and rich history. Each passing year saw the club grow and evolve. The alpine downhill program was a hit, complemented by a strong group of cross-country skiing enthusiasts. About 25 years ago, some new craze called "snowboarding" surged in popularity, and NTSC embraced it, launching a snowboard program. Throughout these years, the club's newsletter played a pivotal role in keeping members informed about past and upcoming events. It began with "Tow Talk," which eventually evolved into "Tows and Trails." As time went on, the printed publication of the magazine faded, and we transitioned to the digital era, embracing the world wide web and the internet with a website and weekly email newsletters. Around the same time, the "call-in" nights where you actually used a telephone to call in to book a day trip were replaced with an online booking system. During the 2000s the club gained momentum in building its membership and its volunteer base towards and now well surpassing 1000+ members from all around the GTA. Several years ago, the club relinquished the physical club room we had on Merton Street, and historical copies of "Tow Talk" and "Tows and Trails" were found. We would like to thank our club volunteer, Andre Cousineau for taking the time and patience to scan each and every issue that we had on hand. As you await the snow to fall this winter, cozy up with a coffee or your favorite beverage, nibble some snacks, and delve into the NTSC archives and enjoy a historical journey through the club's rich past.
