An important Message on our upcoming season from the NTSC BoardDecember 2020 Over the last 7 months, the NTSC Board has been working hard to bring together the coming season for you, our members. This has involved almost daily meetings, reaching out to public and private resorts, bus companies, industry groups, and government agencies to try to understand how they are adjusting their protocols and thinking. We established a COVID committee to help coordinate our efforts and make decisions on best practices for our members to ensure a safe and, as much as possible, a fun season at the same time. These discussions and meetings led us to the rather obvious decision not to operate as a club while Toronto is in a Grey protocol. Recently the board made the harder decision not to operate while Toronto is in the Provincial Government’s Red zone protocol. This will apply to Alpine and Nordic day trips, lessons, and in-person socials. As indicated in previous communications, charters are subject to other rules and regulations and will be exempt from this ruling. If our city and the places where we ski were in a better situation, then NTSC believes that we have the protocols and procedures established – and with the appropriate flexibility in place to run a successful, albeit different, season. We hope that Toronto’s current health guided restrictions will produce the desired results and Alpine and Nordic trips are something that we are able to provide our members as the winter season commences. NTSC takes the health of our city, family and friends and neighbours seriously and believe that this announcement is in the best interests of our volunteers, instructors and our members. We wish that our news was better. We hoped that we would be able to launch our season in a timely fashion. The responsible thing for us to do right now however is wait. When we have the ability to do more, then we will be ready. Thank you to all of our members and for your encouragement, staying optimistic and staying with us as we try to find the right answers for the 2020/2021 season. - NTSC Board of Directors |
