day trip Basics:

NTSC aims to offer as many day trips as possible given snow conditions on the hills and trails; while we always hope we can start our Ontario season in December - most years our infamous "First Tracks" season kick-off  happens the first Saturday in January.

First Tracks kicks off our regular season of day trips and lessons, which includes our full regular offering of unlimited morning lessons for all club members along with our renowned All-Day Beginner Program suitable for people who are new to the sport.

If you've always wanted to ski or board but have never tried, our All-Day Beginner Program program is ideal for you.  Offered exclusively during the first 6 weeks of the season (Saturdays and Sundays Only), the All-Day Beginner Program provides full day lessons to ensure every club member is comfortable with the basic skills they need to start enjoying some green runs and to advance to morning lessons with friends.

A highlight of the season is Race Day!   A long standing club tradition and favourite day, Race Day is suitable for all levels, is all about FUN, and gives everyone a chance to celebrate their season - this is a day not to be missed!

GUESTS

Guests are welcome to come for a day out with us!   Guests MUST be 19+ years of age.  Registration of a guest must to be done by a member via our online system. You can bring up to 3 guests per day trip and each guest can take up to 2 day trips with the club over a season. The guest fee is $35.

See our guest policy for further details on bringing a guest.

Why take a day trip?

Bus fun!  Don't have a car, don't worry!  Have a car, leave it at home and leave the driving to us!  We will get you to and from the hill in comfort on a luxury coach bus where you can catch up with friends and meet new people.  Want to catch some "zzz" on the bus, that is okay too.

Morning lessons!  Most day trips include a 2 hour lesson from one of the top ski schools in Ontario!  Whether you are new to the sport, looking for new friends that ski/board at the same level as you or you are looking for some pointers before your big trip out West,  you won't want to miss out on what our Ski School has to offer.

Spend the day on the hill  with friends, share what you learned in your lesson over lunch at the Chalet, unwind with a little "Apres" before heading home!

Where do we go?

On the weekends, our Alpine Day Trips alternate between Blue Moutain in Collingwood and Mount St. Louis Moonstone near Barrie...Ontario's two largest hills.  Each offers a great selection of beginner, intermediate and advanced hills; with terrain parks for some added challenge and fun.

On Wednesdays, book the day off and join us as we visit a selection of Ontario's best private ski hills such as Osler, Alpine and Craigleith.  These clubs offer varied terrain, beautiful club houses, and short lift lines - all the things that make a day on the slopes memorable.

On Mondays we will be going back to Blue Mountain so you can practice what you learned.

What to expect on your first day trip?

Fun!  Expect a lot of fun!

Seriously though...day trips are great, but if you're new, or haven't been out for a while, there's some things you should know to make sure you have the best day possible.

Don't know anyone at the bus stop?  Introduce yourself!  You'll likely see some friendly instructors in their NTSC uniforms; and lots of other people waiting for the bus.

Before your trip

On a day trip

  • Be at the bus at least 10 minutes early (more if you need to pay for parking).
  • Store skis/boards in a bag, placed in the luggage bins. Take your boots inside (frozen boots are hard to ski or ride in!)
  •   Place boots on the floor at your feet, not in the overhead.  Falling boots hurt! Especially if they're yours.
  • You'll receive a chit for a lift ticket, if required. Don't lose it - you'll need to exchange it when we arrive.
  • Have a friend getting on at a later stop?  It's ok to save ONE seat for them; please leave other seats around you open so everyone can find a seat easily.

On Arrival

  • Stay by the bus and get your lift ticket from your bus captain.
  • Take everything that you'll need for the day. The bus is not accessible during the day.
  • Your bus captain will announce what the bus number is and departure time back to Toronto. Be back on board before then!
  • Lessons begin around 10am, based on when we arrive. Look for the instructors on the snow just outside the chalet.
  • At MSLM, we are at the St. Louis base.
  • At Blue Mountain, we are at the South Base lodge.

Return home

    • The bus opens for loading 15-30 min before, and leaves on time.
    • Luggage bins will be marked by destination. Place your equipment in the correct bin to make unloading easier.
    • At Mount St Louis, the bus will pick up in a different area to the side of the parking lot (see map) .
    • Keep the same seat. Ask before switching seats.
    • If you are not returning on the bus, let your bus captain know.
    • If you are switching buses, talk to both bus captains first.

    Instruction

Lessons are included on most day trips.  Find out more about our  Alpine Snow School

    Who's teaching??

NTSC has over 70 Alpine Ski Instructors who also happen to be members.

We are proud to have the most qualified snow school in Ontario, with more CSIA Level 4 Instructors, the highest level attainable, than any other travelling adult club in the GTA.

Our instructors spend their mornings teaching, and their afternoons in sessions improving their skills and teaching techniques, to ensure our members have access to superior lessons on every day trip.

NTSC has more Snowboard instructors than any other club in Ontario.  We also have the most snowboarders.  Our instructors are certified through CASI, and offer lessons at every level, including park and advanced lessons for more experienced riders.

    STAY SAFE ON THE SLOPES

Skiing, snowboarding and other activities that take place at ski areas can involve the risk of injury or concussion - and we want to see you on a future trip! Learn your responsibilities, how you can stay safe and how to recognize a concussion on our Snow Safety page.
