Discover the meaning of JAPOW!

Niseko Ski Resort, also known as Niseko United, is the largest and most famous ski destination in Japan, thanks to its vast terrain, beautiful winter woods, and legendary powder!

Located roughly an hour from Sapporo on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido, Niseko is set on the slopes of Mount Yotei and features over 3,000 feet (900 meters) of vertical terrain and 2,191 acres of skiable terrain. The resort has earned a reputation as a premier powder mecca where deep and dry Hokkaido powder blankets the slopes every year; an amazing 18 metres annually!

Niseko United is comprised of four separate ski resorts: Niseko Annupuri, Niseko Hanazono, Niseko Grand Hirafu, and Niseko Village. The resorts are linked by over 40 ski lifts and receive over 15 m (50 ft) of light, dry powder snow each year, blowing off the Sea of Japan from Eurasia. Chances are high that it will snow throughout the duration of your trip, but the gondolas and hooded chair lifts make the snowy weather easy to manage.

While the off-piste and backcountry powder skiing is renowned at Niseko, on piste runs should not be dismissed — every type of skier and rider can enjoy the Niseko experience. Off the mountain, you can also enjoy a variety of unique cultural experiences, like a soak in a traditional Japanese onsen, enjoy a delicious Japanese meal at local restaurant, and much more.

After a couple of travel days from Toronto to Niseko, our trip will begin with six incredible days on the slopes (5 in Niseko and 1 in nearby Rusutsu) before we venture back to Sapporo for a stop at the world-renowned Snow Festival where you can marvel at snow and ice sculptures, some the size of small houses!

We will then finish the trip off with a few days in Tokyo (including one day with a guided tour) before heading home to Toronto with legendary stories and memories from your snowy adventures in the Land of the Rising Sun!

Travel Insurance:

NTSC and the Tour Operator strongly recommend you purchase trip interruption insurance to protect against financial losses/penalties in the event you are forced to cancel or your trip is interrupted (e.g. flight cancellations or delays). Trip participants who do not purchase travel insurance will be required to confirm they have other coverage or understand they are responsible to any costs associated with trip cancellation/interruption.

REMINDER: Japan and Europe trip participants are required to provide proof of travel medical insurance coverage. In the past, participants who did not have out-of-country medical insurance have placed an undue burden on Trip Leaders and Travel Committee Reps. Injuries do occur and it is unsafe and can be very expensive to not have out-of-country coverage. Coverage is also strongly recommended for out-of-province travel.

Comprehensive Insurance coverage can also be added to a newly purchased policy. The premium is due with the deposit.

Further details are available on the website Travel Insurance page.
