THE LAST, GREAT, UNSPOILED RESORT

Sitting in the heart of the Kootenay Rockies, Red Mountain Resort is the hidden jewel of BC's Powder Highway region. Located outside the former gold mining town of Rossland, BC, Red is among the oldest ski resorts in North America -- and now one of the best.

The resort is known to cater primarily to intermediate to advanced skiers and riders, particularly backcountry and powder lovers -- 17% beginner, 34% intermediate, 23% advanced (black) and 26% expert (double black).

Red Mountain receives 7.6 meters of annual snowfall and offers the amazing feature of in-bounds cat-skiing - $10 per run on Mt. Kirkup as well as full days with Big Red Cats -- which allow you to easily explore the diverse off-piste terrain available for a full day.

In North America, Red is ranked #1 in most acres per skier and top 10 in skiable acres (3,850 acres). 2,919 vertical feet are serviced by 8 lifts to access 119 named runs over 5 peaks. Here is the trail map; and check out the Rock Star Terrain Park.

Add/substitute a one day trip to Whitewater. Mother nature blankets the resort in over 12 meters of snow annually; that's almost 5m more than Red Mountain. Ski 2044 feet of steeps, deeps, chutes, bowls, and some of the best-glade skiing on the planet.
