ITINERARY

  • Saturday: ski Georgian Nordic + settle in at Deerhurst
  • Sunday: ski Fen Lake in Algonquin Park + optional Fire & Ice Evening Skate at Arrowhead (if available)
  • Monday: ski Arrowhead + return to Toronto

Begin your adventure on Saturday with a trip to Georgian Nordic, and explore the scenic Canadian Shield on cross-country skis. Lunch will be taken at their rustic chalet. In the afternoon we head to the Deerhurst Resort in the heart of Muskoka, where you can settle for the night, have dinner, and enjoy the pool.

Or, you might choose to enjoy one of Muskoka’s most popular attractions, the Arrowhead’s Fire and Ice Evening Skate. Located just 10 minutes from the resort, this is a winter experience like no other, with fire torches lining a magical ice-skating trail in the woods. This is an optional activity that you will organize yourself.

Sunday venture out from the resort to Fen Lake in magical Algonquin Park and have lunch in one of their huts. Return in the afternoon to Deerhurst.

Save Monday for skiing at  Arrowhead, a cross-country skiing paradise - then we’ll make our way back to Toronto in the evening.

ACCOMMODATION

The Deerhurst Resort is located in Huntsville. Hotel features include an indoor pool, rock climbing wall and cross-country ski trails within the resort. The resort offers a wide range of cozy rooms or multi-room vacation rentals. Two- and three-bedrooms suites with kitchens/kitchenettes are also available.

You must contact Deerhurst to reserve your accommodation, either by phone or online at  https://deerhurstresort.com/. Availability is on a first-come first-serve basis, and prices vary depending on the type of room and the timing of booking. Expect to pay around $350 to $450 per person for 2 nights for double occupancy.

We recommend reserving Deerhurst as soon as possible to ensure your spot.

FOOD

Deerhurst Resort offers a range of cafés and restaurants on-site for both breakfast and dinner. Just a short drive away, Huntsville also has plenty of great dining options.

For lunch, bring your own, as the ski resorts we’re visiting don’t have cafeterias. Be sure to plan ahead by packing something to bring along. The kitchens or kitchenettes in the Deerhurst suites make it easy to prepare your own lunches, or you can pick something up in Huntsville on your way to the trail.

PARK PERMITS AND TRAIL PASSES

As part of the $75 registration fee, NTSC will provide 3 days of trail passes and park permits. The park permit for the “Fire & Ice Evening Skate” is not included, as that is an optional activity.

After you register for this trip, we will reach out to you closer to the trip date to arrange the vehicle park permits required at Arrowhead and Algonquin and to request your signature on resort waivers.

EQUIPMENT RENTALS

Georgian Nordic and Arrowhead have rental shops, if you need to rent skis, boots, skates or snowshoes. For skiing or snowshoeing in Algonquin, you can use the equipment provided by Deerhurst.

Expect to pay $15-$35 per day for ski rental packages at resorts, and booking ahead is highly recommended. At Georgian Nordic, members will get a 20% discount if they say they are with NTSC and will pay with debit card at the pro shop. At Arrowhead, only classic skis are available. In Algonquin, classic skis are recommended, as grooming for skate is unlikely.

Even better, you can rent in the city in advance, to avoid the hassle of renting from 3 different resorts.

ESTIMATED COSTS

  • NTSC Registration Fee: $75. This is refundable up to 7 days in advance of the trip.

  • Accommodation: ~$350–$450 per person (double occupancy)

  • Transportation & Meals: Varies

Expect the total trip cost to be around $450–$650 per person.

CANCELLATION

If you are unable to attend the event for which you have signed up, please cancel your registration as soon as possible to allow another member from the wait list to take your place.

To cancel your NTSC registration, email xcountrydirector@ntsc.ca. If you cancel after Feb 6, 2026, your $75 registration fee will not be refunded, as the day park permits are not refundable.

To cancel your accommodation or equipment rental, please contact the resorts directly.
