El Rancho is an institution. 2 floors, great authentic food for those interested and an authentic vibe since 1979. For those that haven't ever been salsa dancing before, this is the place. Lessons are provided at the beginning of the evening - recommended for everyone - to get you up to speed, and then the rest of the night is about having some fun.
There is a cover charge ($12) for entry and lessons which start at 9:00pm. You can show up around 8:30 to get settled. There is a dress code, 'Dress to Impress'. This generally means no jeans.
If you are interested, some of us are going to go out for dinner beforehand at around 7:00pm to Sneaky Dees (right on the corner of Bathurst and College - 431 College St.). They feature Mexican food with arguably the best nachos in the city. We will head across the street to the Ranch right after.
The club should be hopping on Thursday and can get warm (really warm), and so dressing in layers might be a good choice. The club will be open until 3am.
