Let's hike the Seaton Trail on Saturday.

This is an "out and back" trail, with a total distance of 20 km, but of course, it can be short turned at any time.  If you only want to do a shorter hike, choose your distance, track your progress, and turn around when you have finished half of your distance goal.

Here's the trailhead -- Seaton Trail:  https://www.google.ca/maps/place/43%C2%B051'50.5%22N+79%C2%B005'54.5%22W/@43.8640338,-79.1006487,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d43.86403!4d-79.09846

If you are willing to offer a carpool, suggested locations are York Mills, Downsview and Kipling Subway stations.

New to hiking? Keep in mind the following... you should wear comfortable, sturdy shoes or boots with good treads. Think layers for clothing, and watch the weather forecast. While we'll try to pick the area with the best weather, I don't mind a few showers and always pack a rain jacket and hat. Wear quick dry clothing (as opposed to jeans or anything cotton). It will keep you warm even in damp weather. Cotton, on the other hand, gets wet and stays that way, draining heat from your body. Bring a packed lunch/snacks, and around 2 L of water for the trail. You won't notice you're perspiring, losing water (and getting your cotton clothing damp). Keep your energy levels high by staying hydrated. There are no washroom facilities on these trails, so be prepared to find a spot off the trail in the woods. (I usually bring wet wipes and a ziploc for packing out garbage.)
