Nordic Day Trip Info
TRAVEL TO AND FROM THE NORDIC SKI AREAS IS VIA LUXURY COACH. WE USE COACH CANADA.
Please try to arrive at least 10-15 minutes in advance of the scheduled bus arrival time. That will give you time to pay the parking lot meter, collect your gear and make your way to the pick up spot.
Skis are stored in the compartments under the bus. On the return trip to Toronto, there is one compartment allocated for each drop off point. Ask the driver which compartment has been allocated for your stop.
Temperatures and conditions vary all the time. Basically the general guide is to not get damp because you will get cold the moment you stop moving. Your best bet is to dress for 10 degrees higher temperature. If it is -2 C then dress as if you were skiing in 8 C. You will warm up quickly while skiing so wear thin layers that you can add or remove as you see fit. Ideally these should be synthetic or wool as they wick away moisture. Other recommendations are:
Dress in layers so you can adjust your clothing to your activity level.
Some Items to consider for your bag:
Members are entitled to a lesson at no charge on every day trip where lessons are offered. Take a lesson – they are an excellent way to start enjoying the trails!
Paying the guest fee of $20 entitles your guest to a lesson. Registration of a guest must to be done by a member via online system. A guest can take only 2 day trips with the club per season.
Lessons usually start at 10:30 but the start time will depend on what time the bus arrives at the resort.
The instructors will announce when the bus arrives what time the lessons will start and where to meet up.
Members who snowshoe can bring also bring a guest. Snowshoeing guest is $10.
Members are to pay for their day trips online in 48 hours in advance of the day trip. If space on the bus allows, "Show-ups" will be charged an additional $10 and will need to ensure their account is in good standings for their next day trip.
When the bus arrives at the resort, the bus captain will go into the chalet to pick up the trail passes and bring them back to the bus for distribution. Please stay on the bus so we can be sure that everyone receives a trail pass. If you are snowshoeing only, please let the bus captain know when your fee is collected.
If you are renting, let the bus captain know, and follow the bus captain or their designated person to the rental desk when you get off the bus.
The bus is not usually open during the day, so make sure to bring your lunch with you and any other personal belongings that you may need or want during the day.
Your bus captain will announce the bus departure time from the resort. Be on board or be left behind. It’s a long ski back! We do a head count, of course, before we leave. If you decide not to take the bus back for whatever reason (such as you hitched a lift back with friends who drove up, etc,) please be sure to tell your bus captain, so the bus captain is aware of the head count change.
You will find the bus trip a great opportunity for socializing. The club has a history of sharing treats and refreshments on the bus rides and you are invited to partake and bring something to share if you feel like it.
